Summary

My research interests are focused on application of modern nonlinear dynamics methods to modelling, analysis, control of mechanical engineering systems. Research activities in work have been supported by various bodies including Department of Scientific Research (DBN), EPSRC, ITI Energy, Royal Society, and industry. I collaborate extensively with colleagues from the UK, Western and Eastern Europe. I act as a referee of some peer-review journals. I have published as author and co-author some 50 journal and conference papers and four books.
I have practical experience in experimental research originating from my PhD studies and research collaboration with the University of Strathclyde in 1989-92 and 1996. I was among first to use modern data acquisition systems. Then I have developed practical aspects of such techniques in Poland applied to measurement of vibration on lift tower of a coal mine or designing laboratory tests for students.
Later, I have continued research with real systems in the University of Aberdeen in 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2008 dealing with dry friction oscillator and different phases of the Resonance Enhanced Drilling project. These included investigations on high frequency ultrasonic drilling of hard rocks and comparison of the above with conventional impact drilling. My work mainly focused on data acquisition and analysis and building experimental rigs and its measurement equipment.
