Prof. Tomasz Kapitaniak of Lodz University of Technology has been elected a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, within Division III (Sciences and Technology).
Election to the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) is one of the highest honors a Polish scientist can receive. With traditions dating back to the 19th century, PAU brings together the elite of Polish science and culture—scholars with outstanding track records, recognized authority, and significant contributions to the advancement of their respective fields. Membership is granted through election, and the number of seats is limited, further underscoring the prestige of this distinction.
Professort Tomasz Kapitaniak holds a distinguished position in the scientific community. He is one of the most highly regarded and internationally recognized researchers associated with Lodz University of Technology. His pioneering work in the dynamics of nonlinear systems, chaos theory, and mechanical vibrations has garnered widespread acclaim, and his publications have long ranked among the most cited in the field.
Since 1992, the professor has served as Head of the Department of Machine Dynamics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Lodz University of Technology.
