It is an elite association of scientists that advises the European Commission. Prof. Tomasz Kapitaniak is a member of the physics & engineering sciences section, which currently has 437 scientists.

Prof. Tomasz Kapitaniak is the head of the Department of Dynamics at the Lodz University of Technology. At the age of 29 he obtained his habilitation, he received the title of professor when he was 36. He is a world-renowned scientist, often invited to give plenary lectures. He has published 311​​ scientific articles in renowned journals, cited over 6,000 times. He enjoys an international authority in the field of so-called deterministic chaos and irregular motion control. In 2013 he was elected a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He holds an honorary doctorate from the Saratov State University (Russia) and the Lublin University of Technology (Poland). He is an honorary professor at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, and privately an outstanding expert on the history of this country. He relaxes by painting pictures and playing chess.
